Privacy Notice

Last updated: 25 January 2024

Introduction and Summary

Welcome to B Team Films Limited. This notice explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data in the context of our production of documentary and/or theatrical films. We're a micro-sized film production company, so the personal data we collect will generally relate to you being featured in one of our films in some way. We hope to share these films with as many people as possible. If you don't like the idea of being on camera and having recordings of you shared far and wide, you should not agree to participate in one of our films (or, perhaps, anyone's films).

Data Controller

B Team Films Limited is the controller of your personal data, which means that we determine what personal data is collected from and about you, how it is used, and with whom it is shared. It also means that we're responsible for complying with applicable privacy and data protection laws with respect to our collection and use of your personal data.

The Data We Collect About You

We collect various types of personal data, including:

  • Your name, professional background, and contact details.
  • Audio, video, and photographic footage for our films.
  • Contents of your communications with us.

How We Use Your Personal Data

For individuals who have agreed to be featured in our films, we use your personal data to create, promote, and distribute those films. Under UK and EU data protection terms, our 'lawful basis' for this processing is that the use of your personal data is necessary for performance of our contract, documented in the filming release that reflects your agreement to participate in the film.

In our production of documentary films, we may collect and use audio, video, and/or photographic materials in which identified or identifiable individuals are incidentally shown or heard (e.g. materials captured at open events, including industry conferences). Our collection and use of these materials is based on our legitimate interests.

Our collection and use of personal data in the context of our production, promotion, and distribution of documentary films is an exercise of our freedom of expression and journalism in the public interest. It is subject to exemptions from privacy and data protection law in certain jurisdictions which may limit your privacy and data protection rights in some cases.

We may use your contact details to communicate with you.

Disclosure of Your Personal Data

Your personal data may be disclosed:

  • To the public or to select audiences as part of the promotion or display of our films.
  • To third parties as required by law or where necessary for our working relationship.
  • To third parties from whom we acquire archive materials.

Data Security

We implement reasonable measures to secure your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction, taking into account the nature of our small business and the sensitivity of the personal data collected.

Data Retention

Your personal data is retained as long as necessary for compliance with legal obligations. Audio, video, and photographic materials may be retained indefinitely as archives in the public interest.

Cross-Border Transfers of Personal Data

We store personal data is principally in the United Kingdom. We transfer some personal data to the United States through our use of Microsoft's Office 365 productivity suite for things such as email communications and document storage. We transfer encrypted versions of audio, video, and photographic materials to a backup service provider in the United States, but the service provider has no reasonable means of decrypting this data and all encryption keys are kept exclusively by B Team Films Limited in the United Kingdom.

Your Legal Rights

You have rights regarding your data, including access, correction, erasure, and objection to processing. If you are concerned about our compliance with applicable privacy or data protection laws, you can contact us via the details below, or you can contact the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
